LACP, or Link Aggregation Control Protocol, is designed to provide automatic interface aggregation, which indeed plays a vital role in enhancing network redundancy. This functionality allows multiple network interfaces to work together as a single logical link, creating a more reliable connection. In the event that one of the individual links in the aggregated group fails, the traffic can be transparently rerouted over the remaining operational links, thus ensuring continuous network availability.

By providing the ability to combine several links, LACP also aids in increasing overall bandwidth between switches, routers, or servers. The automatic nature of LACP's operation simplifies network management, as it dynamically detects and manages the aggregated links without requiring manual configuration for each individual link.

The other options do not accurately reflect the capabilities and characteristics of LACP. Active mode refers to one of the states LACP can operate in, but LACP can also function in a passive mode. While there is indeed a limit on the number of active links, it is not a fundamental purpose of LACP, rather a configuration aspect. Additionally, LACP is specifically designed to enhance link redundancy, making the statement that it is not used for link redundancy inaccurate.
